Sprinkler fitters install systems that protect lives and property by putting out fires, activating alarms, and notifying the fire department. As building codes and technologies have evolved, the need for well-trained workers with a variety of skills has become more important.
In the Union Association Sprinkler Fitters Local 483 apprentices and journey level sprinkler fitters get hands-on experience working on many different types of fire sprinkler systems, pipe fittings, valves and controls.
The Hayward Training Center provides hands on training for field personnel in controlled conditions. The center has a state of the art training facility equipped with following:
- Sprinkler Valve Area
- Fire Pump Demonstration Area
- Sprinkler Demonstration Area
- Rigging Supplies Area
- Welding and Brazing Area
- Classrooms and computer rooms
We will visit the facility, witness sprinkler discharge demonstration, participate in pump testing, inspect pipe welding and brazing, observe sprinkler valve operation and learn about sprinkler pipe fitters and sprinkler inspection work.
